Meet an Ambassador: Dee Eckman, Realtor Berkshire Hathaway Home Services of California

March 23, 2018

Deanna (Dee) Eckman has experienced and accomplished more things in her 35+ years in real estate than most people can only imagine. A native of Iowa, Dee spent her professional life as a Director at Cushman & Wakefield in Santa Monica and Marina del Rey (where she headed up their industrial real estate platform for Southern California and oversaw 48 million square feet and a staff of 35) –before moving to Palm Desert and joining Berkshire Hathaway in 2017.

“Too hung in my own heart and mind to retire, I interviewed with BHHS and ended up with this great company as a Realtor, and I am my own boss. I am also a proud member of the Coachella Valley Leadership Group, Class of 2018. I believe being a part of the Chamber Ambassadors is important, because you must be an active part to support and truly be a part of a community.”

A member of numerous professional organizations, Dee became the first Woman President of the Santa Monica Kiwanis Club (by unanimous vote) at a time when women were not generally a part of service organizations. During her tenure, club membership increased to the highest in the history of the Club and donated over $200,000 to various charities in Santa Monica.

Family is extremely important to Dee. Her parents are deceased, and she is oldest of 5 (2 brothers and 2 sisters), 8 nieces/nephews and 13 great nieces and nephews.

She was a Cheerleader/performer for a major midwestern radio station and a High School Homecoming Queen.

As a skincare executive, Dee ran an international private label skin care company, writing for the major beauty magazines and lecturing all over US and Canada.

She also ran a Charter Jet company that flew Presidents, celebrities, corporate execs, Foreign dignitaries/families, CIA, DEA internationally.

And Dee crashed in the Colorado Rockies in a small plane on Christmas Eve many years ago and survived, thanks to a helicopter unit out of Colorado Springs Military.
