Meet a Chamber Ambassador

November 30, 2018

A Massachusetts native, Mel has experienced an unusual life: “I was on a race track and came in 1st place before I ever came out of my mother’s womb! – My father raced stock cars, and so my mother competed in an all-women’s “Powder Puff Race” when she was pregnant with me, and she came in 1st place!” “Spirit has been the guiding Force in my life for as long as I can remember! –  At five years old I was standing outside with my best friend, and her dad talking, and all I remember is that this knowing came over me as I looked up to the sky. It was this knowing that we are all brothers and sisters, because we come from the same Father. And that understanding has driven my life to be of service to others.”

“No one thought that I would live to see my 18th birthday! And yet here I am! – I experienced the dark night of my soul at 15 years old when I lost my brother to suicide. And my journey of healing is what led me to create De-Cluttering Spaces. I wasn’t always organized and this happy! In fact, I was cluttered, depressed and suicidal by the time I was 15.  I spent the next year and a half of my life institutionalized in a treatment center for adolescents. And as a result of what I learned along the journey of my healing, something unexpected happened, I got free from clutter and began to experience abundance and happiness in all areas of my life. Because I learned how to get free from clutter and access my birthright of abundance and happiness and in all areas of my life, I had to find a way to share that with others. And that’s why I created De-Cluttering Spaces.”

Mel moved to San Diego in 2002 as General Manager of Mahogany Run Delivery, Inc, where she “got to play Tetris with furniture in a 10,000 square foot warehouse all day long.”  Her education has been Yoga Teacher Training, Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program, and Reiki I, Theta Level I & II.   In 2014, she created De-Cluttering Spaces

“Because I believe that it is your birthright to be abundant and happy in all areas of your life, and that clutter is anything that keeps you from that birthright.”

Mel wanted to be part of the PDACC Ambassador Team to make connections and to give back to the community. “Being an Ambassador has helped me get out of my shell and talk to people instead of standing on the wall! It pushes me out of my comfort zone! I made great connections in the short time that I have been an ambassador.”

Mel is most proud of marriage to my beautiful wife Amy, and the creation and success of my business De-Cluttering Spaces!”  She would like to be remembered for her heart…and for spreading unconditional love to everyone she meets!
